IF YOU ARE INSERTING INDIVIDUAL PHOTOS ON PAGES THEN PLEASE CONTINUE TO READ SO YOU CAN LEARN HOW TO RESIZE PHOTOS:

If you have received an email saying you have used all your disk space or over the limit you probably took digital pictures and put them on your web site without resizing them!

Here is a quick blurb to bring you up to speed if your confused:

When you take a picture with a digital camera or scan some pictures in they are USUALLY really big in size as in how much disk space they take up and also very BIG in size as in HOW TALL & WIDE! They are like that so they will PRINT clear and allow you to print poster size pictures.

Online you DON'T WANT HIGH RES PHOTOS! Most pictures should be approx 640x480 pixels or so. This will save disk space and also allow your web page to load MUCH FASTER!

Quick Web Graphics Tips for making Web graphics small, fast, and smooth.

TIP #1 Save images in the right file format. Images with large areas of solid color (such as vector graphics or illustrations) should be saved as GIFs. Images with lots of shading or gradients (such as photos) should be saved in JPEG format.

TIP #2 Resize images in a graphics program. Save images using a good compression utility.

Tip #4 Cropping an Image reduces the overall physical size of an image and allows you to save only the part of the image important to the photograph. To crop a photo in this program simple click and hold your left mouse button down and drag over the area you want to crop and then release the button. If you did not get the exact area you wanted just do it again until you get it right. Next, hold down on your "ctrl" key and then press your "X" then "V" key. That's it. If you have made a mistake you can always hold down on your "ctrl" key and then press "Z" to undo.
